Storage of lyophilized peptides
Lyophilized peptides are highly stable when sealed and stored correctly. The critical parameters are temperature, light exposure, and moisture.

Prior to reconstitution
Before a lyophilized peptide is reconstituted, the vial should be brought to room temperature — at least 15–30 minutes before opening. This prevents condensation inside the vial upon opening, which can introduce moisture into the powder and compromise stability.
The vial should only be opened shortly before use. If only a portion of the content is used, reseal the vial immediately and store at −20°C.
Important
Never open lyophilized peptides directly from the freezer. Condensation moisture is one of the most common reasons for premature degradation.
Reconstitution — Step by step
Reconstitution refers to the process of dissolving the lyophilized powder in a solvent. For research peptides, bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) is the standard.

Bring vial to room temperature
Remove from the freezer 15–30 minutes before opening. Do not heat.

Prepare solvent
Bring bacteriostatic water (0.9% BnOH) to room temperature. Calculate target concentration.

Add solvent slowly
Slowly pipette the solvent onto the vial wall — not directly onto the powder. Avoid foam formation.

Swirl gently
Gently swirl the vial until the powder is completely dissolved. Do not shake or vortex.

Storage of the solution
Store at 4°C. Stable for 7–14 days in bacteriostatic water. Ensure light protection.
Bacteriostatic Water vs. Sterile Water
For the reconstitution of research peptides, bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) is typically preferred. The benzyl alcohol acts as a preservative and prevents microbial growth in the reconstituted solution — allowing multiple extractions from the same vial over several days.
Sterile water without preservatives is also suitable but provides no antibacterial properties. Reconstituted solutions in sterile water should therefore be used within 24–72 hours.
